Sean Lennon is set to debut music from his first full-length album, Into The Sun (Grand Royal Records), at the South By Southwest music conference in Austin, Texas, on March 21.|

Lennon will join labelmate Buffalo Daughter at the annual music gathering. Into The Sun, which was recorded in the space of a month at New York's Sear Sound studios with Cibo Matto's Yuka Honda, will hit record stores around the world on May 5.

"It's a time capsule of 1997," Lennon said of the album. "The people who've seen me play with IMA or Cibo Matto over the last few years might have an idea of what to expect, but I think that being eclectic is the only way to define my music."

Lennon sings and plays all the instruments on the album. Honda, however, does play keyboards on nearly half the record, while Cibo Matto's Miho Hatori sings on one track, "Into the Sun."

Lennon personally chose Grand Royal to release the album. He's known people at the label and other bands on Grand Royal for years. "I look at signing to Grand Royal as an opportunity to work with friends," he said.

Label head Mike Diamond (of the Beastie Boys) echoed Lennon's remarks by saying that after years of knowing each other, "it felt natural when he came to us and said he wanted to make a record. Still we felt honored because it reflected all we'd done for our bands, and because he would trust us with such an intensely personal record." (Ari Bendersky)
