The movie, in theaters November 7th, stars Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson and Emma Thompson and is screenwriter Richard Curtis' (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones's Diary) first effort as director. "Without its music, Love Actually wouldn't work at all," says Curtis. "I know because I saw the film without the music and it was a shocker. It's the life and soul of the film. Joni Mitchell's extraordinary re-recording of 'Both Sides Now,' the words of youth rediscovered in her fifties -- was always the core of Emma Thompson's whole story . . . I played Hugh Grant seven records to dance to, and he chose [the Pointer Sisters'] 'Jump' and now I can't imagine another song."
Wyclef Jean contributes "Take Me As I Am," a track from his upcoming album The Preacher's Son. At a recent record release party in Los Angeles, he explained that, while the song may work on the silver screen, it has special real-life meaning to him. "My girl was about ready to get a divorce," he said. "I wrote this song because I was so glad she decided to stay with my bony ass."
