Mann, Folds Join Shatner

"Star Trek" star assembles all-star lineup for second album

For more than thirty-five years, William Shatner has avoided a sophomore slump by failing to release a follow-up to his 1968 cult (and camp) classic The Transformed Man. The former Star Trek captain will break his silence on October 5th with the release of Has Been.

Shatner's second album is a musical collaboration with Ben Folds, who produced and co-wrote eight of the album's eleven tracks with the actor. In addition to the Shatner/Folds songs, Has Been includes songs written by country star Brad Paisley ("Real"), Pulp ("Common People") and "That's Me Trying," a cut Folds co-wrote with novelist Nick Hornby.

Has Been was recorded at Folds' studio in Nashville and features Folds on piano, Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos) on drums, Sebastian Steinberg (Beth Orton) on bass and the Posies' Jon Auer on guitar. Guest vocalists include Aimee Mann, Joe Jackson, Henry Rollins and Paisley, and guitarist Adrian Belew also makes an appearance.

Track list for Has Been:

Common People
It Hasn't Happened Yet
You'll Have Time
That's Me Trying
What Have You Done
Together
Familiar Love
Ideal Woman
Has Been
I Can't Get Behind That
