Album Reviews
But these four young survivors of the Los Angeles club wars can no doubt handle the mixed blessing of a novelty hit. Weezer's Rivers Cuomo is great at sketching vignettes (the Dungeons and Dragons games and Kiss posters that inspire the hapless daydreamer of "In the Garage"), and with sweet inspiration like the waltz tempo of "My Name Is Jonas" and the self-deprecating humor of lines like "I look like Buddy Holly/You're Mary Tyler Moore," his songs easily ingratiate.

I don't think the Rolling Stone does this album justice. I think
it's the best album that I've ever heard, and although most
people wouldn't agree with me, I think it at least deserves a
5-star rating and higher than a 297 spot on the greatest
albums list. "Say it Ain't So" is my favorite track on the
album...it's catchy, an incredible musical invention, and I just
never get tired of hearing it. But what's so great about this
album is that "My Name is Jonas," "Buddy Holly," "Undone (The
Sweater Song," "Surf Wax America," and "Only in Dreams" all
come extremely close to "Say it Ain't So," and I can't order the
songs on this album from favorite to least favorite because I
like them all so much. Anyway, I really think the Rolling Stone
does not recognize Weezer as they deserve to be
recognized...RS makes them out almost as a joke, but really
they're one of the best rock bands of all time. RS should stop
basing their greatest whatever lists on popularity and
fame...The Beatles, The Who, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones,
Eric Clapton, and a few more classic rock artists are all on
these lists a sickening number of times. Not that they're not
extremely good, but really, with the exception of the Beatles,
looking at each album as a whole, these bands shouldn't have
every or almost every one of their albums on the 500 greatest
list. Sorry I ran off topic, but this album is amazing and I think
someone should recognize that.
