Album Reviews
The Vivian Girls' greatest claim to fame is that they were part of a recent Jeopardy question about "really cute" Brooklyn bands. They should be known for their dreamlike riot of punk, surf guitar and slumber-party fun. For this album, the ladies stepped up their studio time from their debut, which means they spent six days recording instead of three. But their "1-2-3-go!" rush — built around Cassie Ramone's scratchy guitar and Ali Koehler's insistent drums — is a thrill. Bonus: Song titles like "I Have No Fun" and "I'm Not Asleep" could be T-shirt slogans for hipster burnouts.
