Album Reviews
This resonant soundtrack for the little-seen film The Slaughter Rule showcases twangy lonely-highway tunes by an all-star alt-country cast. Jay Farrar's mature score is augmented by new material from Freakwater and Vic Chestnutt and older tracks by Neko Case, Ryan Adams and Uncle Tupelo. The standouts: a captivating yodel tune by Wylie and the Wild West and an eerie 1950s instrumental by Speedy West and Jimmy Bryant.
