Album Reviews
This June, jam bands that have been steady presences on the touring circuit came fully aboveground when 70,000 people gathered in a Tennessee field for three days of free-form musical journeying. This two-disc survey of the Bonnaroo Festival features plenty of winning, ambling rock forays. Highlights: a revival-tent jubilee, "Tallboy," by Widespread Panic and vocalist Dottie Peoples; Norah Jones' contemplative "Nightingale"; and the real killer, "Peekaboo," a shower of steel-guitar fireworks from Robert Randolph and the Family Band.
