Despite reports, Van Morrison will not perform at Bush inauguration

Van Morrison will not play, and had no intention of playing, at George W. Bush's inauguration week ceremonies, according to a representative for the singer.

Despite reports last week that claimed that the legendary singer would perform along with Ricky Martin, ZZ Top, Clint Black and others, Morrison's camp issued a statement distancing him from the event.

"Reports that Mr. Van Morrison will be performing or attending the inauguration ceremonies of President elect George W. Bush are absolutely false," the statement reads. "Mr. Morrison was never slated to appear at this event and has no intention of doing so."

Festivities are scheduled to begin this week, leading up to Bush's inauguration on Saturday, January 20th.
