Toni Braxton has won the latest round in her battle with Arista and LaFace Records over the validity of her contract. |

On May 15, a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge denied a motion by the record companies to dismiss a complaint filed against them by Braxton. In the complaint, filed March 18, Braxton's representatives asked the court to rule that her contract with Arista and LaFace was no longer enforceable.

After protracted discussions with the labels regarding renegotiation of her contract broke down last year, Braxton filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in January; bankruptcy courts may void existing contracts if they interfere with a debtor's ability to recover financially. (Billboard)
