(LOS ANGELES) - New details about Toni Braxton's contract dispute withArista and LaFace Records have come to light. |

Braxton sued Arista andLaFace in December, saying that her contract was void under a Californiastatute that limits personal-services pacts to seven years. The labelsfollowed with a suit against Braxton that was filed Jan. 8 in New YorkSupreme Court. According to that suit, Braxton's agreement contains aclause that requires the parties to litigate contract disputes in NewYork state or federal court. A hearing on a motion by the labels todismiss Braxton's suit due to that clause had been scheduled for lastweek in California Superior Court in L.A. but was rendered moot byBraxton's Jan. 22 bankruptcy filing, which stayed any immediate courtproceedings.
