And yet another band is throwing in the towel. After months of shedding tears over having no money to continue recording, Throwing Muses has announced their official breakup.

Formed in 1980 by sisters Kristin Hersh and Tanya Donnelly (who has since started her own group Belly), Throwing Muses paved the way for female rock groups to emerge in the male-dominated music industry.

Hersh is currently concentrating on a solo project and has an album coming out in early 1998 titled Strange Angels. (AB)
