On this stopgap EP, the long-running duo proves one more time that it can turn out solid pop-rock melodies rather than just go for laughs. But only fans will be able to get past most of the band's quirks -- e.g., the slightly forced irony of the synth-pop and faux light-rock arrangements -- or enjoy its highly imitative, accordion-driven cover of the Beach Boys' "Caroline, No."
