Two members of the Promise Ring, an indie rock band based in Milwaukee, were hospitalized following a car crash in Omaha, Neb., on Feb. 3.|

After a series of tour dates with RCA recording artists Hum, the Promise Ring were driving home when their van hit a patch of ice and they lost control, according to Tim Owen, co-owner of Jade Tree Records. "Everybody was thrown from the van, the roof was peeled back like a sardine can and all the doors were ripped off," Owen said.

Guitarist Jason Gnewikow sustained the most injuries with a broken collar bone, two cracked upper and lower vertebrae, a bruised lung and a collapsed lung. Owen said Gnewikow was released from an Omaha hospital on Monday. With a broken arm, bassist Tim Burton was the only other seriously injured member; he was only in the hospital overnight.

Singer Davey von Bohlen received stitches and drummer Dan Didier walked away with a few bumps and bruises, as did the band's roadie, Mike D..

The accident prompted Promise Ring to cancel three shows with Hum, but they should be healed in time for their four-week tour of the East Coast, Midwest and Canada, set to kick off in March.

Fans who would like to send the band messages of encouragement can write the Promise Ring at Box 93511, Milwaukee, Wis. 53203. (Ari Bendersky)
