Starbait Tour Canceled

canceled

The Starbait concert series, which had the likes of Prodigy, Black Grape and Crystal Method touring together Down Under, has been canceled. |

The tour was set to kick off Jan. 16 at Auckland, New Zealand's Mt. Smart Supertop and continue through Jan. 26 at Sydney's Space Park. Starbait was to be the second major concert happening produced by the organizers of Australia's Big Day Out.

Tour organizers say Black Grape's recent internal problems caused them to cancel the tour. Although rumors had the Chemical Brothers taking Black Grape's spot on the bill, the official word from Australia is that the Starbait camp said Black Grape was irreplaceable.

Other bands in the lineup included the Orb, Death In Vegas, Avalanches, Regurgitator, Bexta, Sonic Animation and DJs Ransom, Groove Terminator and Heavy G.

Aussies shouldn't fear, however, since Prodigy and Regurgitator still plan to tour their country in January. (Ari Bendersky)
