"I had a secret meeting in the basement of my brain," mumbles Matt Berninger, and he spends the rest of this NYC band's third album rummaging among churning grooves and shambling New Wave rips, turning up depressed guitar poetry that's both elegantly wasted and kinda murky.

Beautiful album, the one imo that put them on the map. This was is more rocking than their most recent(Boxer). The best song by far is The Geese of Beverly Road. It is just stunning. The vocals are hypnotic and the drumming sets the standard for every track. It amazes me that more people do not worship this band, they are music for today, not Linkin Park,Coheed and Cambria and other garbage out there right now.
