Chess Blues Classics Leads Compilation Packages

(LOS ANGELES) - Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the beginning of Chess Records, MCA Records will launch a yearlong series of CD compilations featuring the label's historic catalog. The first wave of packages include Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry and Etta James compilations and two new multiartist collections -- Chess Blues Classics 1947-1956 and Chess Blues Classics 1957-1967. Over the course of the year, MCA will release work by such artists as Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Rogers, Sonny Boy Williamson, John Lee Hooker, Little Walter, the Moonglows, the Flamingos, Lowell Fulson, the Dells and Minnie Riperton.
