Alt-rock heroes return with original lineup, summer dates

After their first reunion gig in fifteen years tonight on CBS' Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, the original lineup of seminal alt-rock band Dinosaur Jr. will prepare for a fourteen-city summer tour.

Frontman J Mascis and bassist Lou Barlow formed the band, originally called Dinosaur, in 1985 and were later joined by drummer Murph. Several seven-inches and two albums followed before the rockers called it quits in 1989. Mascis would go on to record under the name without Barlow, while Barlow turned to dual pursuits, Sebadoh and the Folk Implosion.

The Dinosaur Jr. reunion stint kicks off July 7th in Orlando, and wraps up on the 24th at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.

The tour announcement follows the reissue last month of the first three Dinosaur Jr. albums: Dinosaur, You're Living All Over Me and Bug.
