Charges Against Crystal Method Dropped

Posted Oct 31, 1997 12:00 AM

In the early morning on Oct. 24, the Crystal Method's Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland were arrested when Los Angeles police raided a house under suspicion of dealing GHB, a so-called designer drug also known as "liquid ecstasy." The L.A. district attorney's office has since determined that no charges will be filed against the techno duo.|

A spokeswoman at Formula PR, the band's publicist, told JAMTV the charges had been dropped after the DA determined the duo had been "in the wrong place at the wrong time." Apparently Jordan and Kirkland stopped by the house, which belongs to a local DJ friend, following the Jane's Addiction dress rehearsal at the Olympic Auditorium on Oct. 24.

The pair said they just wanted to drop off vinyl copies of their latest release, Vegas, to their friend. When the cops raided the house, Kirkland said, with helicopters circling the house, the bust was like being in a movie. "The whole house was overrun by police," he said. "We were arrested, cuffed and taken downtown, as was everyone else in the building."

According to reports, the pair posted $200,000 bond each and were released, later to have all the charges dropped.
