The sequel to Austin Powers is getting a sequel
soundtrack. Tongues twisted yet? Oh, behave, untwist, and pony up
for a second soundtrack installment of Austin Powers: The Spy
Who Shagged Me, due out in October.
Not quite equipped with the same star power of the near platinum prototype, which features Madonna, R.E.M. and Lenny Kravitz, the follow-up does usher in the first new material from a reunited Bangles, an original called "Get the Girl." Other highlights on the soundtrack -- the release of which will coincide with the home video and DVD release of the film -- include They Might Be Giants' "Dr. Evil," the Propellerheads' "Crash!" and the Lords of Acid's "Am I Sexy."
Also included on the soundtrack will be Seventies-era material from the Monkees ("I'm a Believer"), Marvin Gaye ("Let's Get It On"), Steppenwolf ("Magic Carpet Ride") and the Guess Who's "American Woman." A Lenny Kravitz cover of "American Woman" appears on the first soundtrack.
