Album Reviews
At thirty-three, the Puerto Rico-born, Miami-raised Calderon is reggaeton's godfather, a open-eared innovator who dresses up his laid-back rhymes with merengue, sleek reggae and electro-tinged salsa. This hits collection is a pan-Latin mix of sexy, sample-laden self-congratulation ("Sopa de Letra"), straight hip-hop en espanol ("Cerca de Mi Neighborhood") and dope socially conscious rhymes that reference both Taco Bell and Nagasaki ("Naki, Naki").
