Teenage Fanclub Postpones U.S. Tour

Posted Oct 11, 1997 12:00 AM

American admirers of Teenage Fanclub will have to stick it out a bit longer before seeing the band on stage. The Scottish 4-piece has postponed their U.S. tour, according to a spokeswoman at Columbia Records.| Teenage Fanclub was to kick off their eleven-day tour at Slim's in San Francisco on Oct. 18 and end in Atlanta on Nov. 6 at the Cotton Club. However, when the band's new album, Songs From Northern Britain was released, the band was on tour in the States. "They never had a chance to tour in Europe to support the album," said Lisa Linder at Columbia.

The band has opted to remain as the opening act for pop wunderkind Radiohead, who are currently touring Europe. Linder said Teenage Fanclub will reschedule the dates for early 1998 and continue to promote Songs From Northern Britain. (Brandon Barber)
