Talk Show Gives Fans A Taste Of STP

Posted Oct 11, 1997 12:00 AM

Many Stone Temple Pilots fans are still uncertain about the future of the band, but one thing's for sure -- its members are moving along just fine.|

Talk Show, composed of Robert and Dean DeLeo and Eric Kretz from STP and singer Dave Coutts, currently holds the opening spot on the Foo Fighters fall tour. Word from the road is that many fans have been nearly begging Talk Show to play STP faves. Since the band just released their own self-titled album earlier this year, they haven't been eager to comply - at least not until the other night.

When the show pulled into the Strand in Providence, R.I., Tuesday night, fans got a surprise. At one point, Talk Show pulled an energetic fan up from the crowd to join in on Stone Temple Pilots' hit "Vaseline," the Providence Journal reported .

When Talk Show finished their set, the Foo Fighters took the stage and in another treat for fans, Dave Grohl, the band's lead singer, took an occasional seat behind a drum kit set up for him, invoking memories of his days with Nirvana. (Ari Bendersky)
