During the Oct. 3 show in Bologna, Italy, a fan jumped on the stage, blindsiding McGrath and causing him to injure his knee. Lee Heiman, Sugar Ray's manager, said McGrath may have suffered ligament damage but they won't know until the singer consults with doctors.
McGrath and the rest of the band arrived in the United States Wednesday, and McGrath will see knee specialists today and Friday. Heiman said because McGrath is an athlete, he has a higher tolerance for pain, but regardless, "he'll move forward. If he has to undergo surgery, we will postpone it until after the tour with 311, which they are still a part of."
Before the injury, Sugar Ray was touring Europe, playing to sold out crowds at mid-size clubs all over the continent. On Oct. 30, Sugar Ray will join up with 311 for a five-week tour of North America. (Ari Bendersky)
