Sting strips down, Ramones get honest

Sting will tour college campuses, beginning April 1st in San Jose, California. Dubbed the Broken Music Tour, the stripped-down shows will feature Sting with a three-piece band . . . End of the Century: The Story of the RAMONES will be released on DVD on March 15th. The Ramones documentary features interviews with band members, BLONDIE and the CLASH's JOE STRUMMER . . . Producer JERMAINE DUPRI has been named president of Virgin Records Urban Music, a new division of the label . . . TOBY KEITH is at work on an as-yet-untitled studio album, due May 17th. The first single, "Honky Tonk U," written by Keith himself, is due early next month . . .

RINGO STARR will play an animated superhero in an animated series created by Stan Lee (Spider-Man, The X-Men) due in early 2006 . . . The RESIDENTS will release their new album, Animal Lover, on February 22nd . . . AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE's The Feeding, the follow-up to the band's 2001 debut The War of Art, is due February 15th . . . NEW FOUND GLORY, ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS, LISA LOEB and CITIZEN COPE are featured on the soundtrack to the WB series Summerland, due March 22nd . . . On April 7th, GLORIA ESTEFAN and THALIA will perform in a three-hour concert marking the tenth anniversary of SELENA's death, set to air live from Houston's Reliant Stadium on Univision . . .

BOB DYLAN is among the nominees for the National Book Critics Circle prizes, announced Saturday. Dylan's memoir Chronicles, Vol. 1 is a finalist in the biography/autobiography category . . . The STROKES have started working on their follow-up to 2003's Room on Fire with producer DAVID KAHNE (PAUL McCARTNEY, SUGAR RAY) . . . HOT HOT HEAT, the WALKMEN, MISSION OF BURMA, LOUIS XIV, DAMON AND NAOMI, SMOOSH and A GIRL CALLED EDDY are among the latest acts to sign on for San Francisco's thirteenth annual Noise Pop festival, to take place February 22-27 . . . OSLO, featuring longtime NO DOUBT multi-instrumentalist GABRIAL McNAIR, will release their self-titled debut March 29th. . .

ELVIS PRESLEY's previously unreleased version of KRIS KRISTOFFERSON's "For the Good Times" will be featured on Love, Elvis, a twenty-four-track compilation of the King's love songs, due January 25th . . . LAURYN HILL is collaborating with KANYE WEST on her long-delayed second studio album . . . KYLIE MINOGUE is suing British record producer Pete Waterman for alleged unpaid royalties for her Greatest Hits album, released in 1992 and re-released in 2002 . . . The FIERY FURNACES are set to kick off their spring tour on April 6th in Cleveland . . . Veteran blues guitarist TOMMY CASTRO releases Soul Shaker, his first album in four years, on February 1st.
