This great idea, stuffing Stereolab's BBC recordings on two CDs, now doubles as an epitaph for singer-guitarist Mary Hansen, who died in December. It is a fitting tribute and a fine survey of the band's pneumatic bubblegum: sweet pop stripped to its fundamental throb and melancholy.
