British festival enters seventh year

Following an uneventful year for British livestock, the annual V festival will stage its 2002 installment this August. Last year's event went on as planned, despite being threatened with early closure due to the nation's foot-and-mouth epidemic.

This year, V2002's seventh, Travis, the Chemical Brothers and the Stereophonics will headline. The festival will take place August 17th and 18th across two venues, Hyland Park in the southern locale of Chelmsford, and Weston Park, Staffordshire, in the North. Also confirmed to play are Starsailor, Badly Drawn Boy, Beta Band, Groove Armada, Elbow, Primal Scream, Supergrass, former Stone Roses Ian Brown, Turin Breaks and the Stereo MCs.

More acts for the four-stage event are expected to be announced in the coming months.
