Album Reviews
In more ways than one, Seventeen-year-old Stacie Orrico is following in the footsteps of Destiny's Child, with whom she tagged along on a 2001 tour. She invokes the girls' sexy, sophisticated spirit and spices up her R&B-heavy sophomore album with hip-hop, pop and gospel stylings well beyond her years. The dancehall track "I Could Be the One" exhibits Orrico's youth and playful side, while "That's What Love's About" showcases her expressive abilities. The album's shining moments are the ballads "Strong Enough," which Orrico performs on keyboard and "I Promise." If Orrico continues to stay true to herself, her career is one promise she's sure to make good on.
