Harwell toasts his mother, Shania goes free in Chicago

Smash Mouth frontman Steve Harwell recorded a tribute song to his mother for a "Got Milk?" radio ad that debuted this week. In other news, the band's fourth album is due next month . . . Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix will make a guest appearance on Reach 454's new, self-titled album . . . Shania Twain will give a free concert in Chicago on July 27th. The performance will be filmed for an August special on NBC . . One of Tom Hamilton's basses, signed by all the members of Aerosmith, will be auctioned on eBay with proceeds going to VH1's Save the Music Foundation . . . The String Cheese Incident will begin a thirty-three-date tour on June 19th at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado . . .

Harry Belafonte, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, John Hiatt and the Goners and Michelle Shocked will perform at the Taos Solar Music Festival in New Mexico, which will run June 27-29 . . . The WB and Pepsi are teaming up for a new variety show, Pepsi Smash, which will debut on July 16th. Ashanti, Michelle Branch, Evanescence and the Foo Fighters are among the acts who have committed to appearing on the show . . . Billy Joel and Twyla Tharp won a Tony Award for best orchestration for Movin' Out, their musical based on Joel's songs, Sunday night in New York City . . . Sylvester Stallone has signed on to write, direct and star in a film based on the Los Angeles Police Department's alleged ties to the murders of the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur . . . A twenty-six-year-old University of North Carolina student was electrocuted and killed on Friday night between sets of a RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS/SNOOP DOGG concert in Charlotte . . .
