"There's this guy named Tig, the character, and they couldn't find anybody that looked [right] or seemed to pull it off," says Mullins. "Basically, Kelly came home from the audition and said she thought it went well but they didn't have a guy for this part. So I went the next day and read for it and they liked me [chuckles]."
Directed by Stacey Childers and written by her brother Michael, the independent film chronicles a group of twentysomethings living in Athens, Georgia. Tig is described as a bitter, jaded character transformed by a woman named Molly, played by Hobbs.
Mullins acted as a child, but never in his adult years. "I've had very little training," he admits. "I started in school and then at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta, I took some children's theater acting classes. I did a few productions and then one of my teachers was a producer for cable TV and Nickelodeon in Atlanta so I got hooked into a few TV shows that way that were local and regional at best."
At twelve, he appeared in a children's variety show called Encore Encore. "It was a rip-off of Zoom that was really bad," Mullins remembers. "I wasn't like a child actor bringing home the bacon for my family. It was just something I wanted to express myself with. I liked acting and I think that's part of the storyteller [in me] too."
Mullins continued acting in high school, but in college concentrated full-force on studying music, which included composing for plays. He didn't consider acting again until his wife returned from the Delivery Boy Chronicles audition.
"There were seventy-five pages I read through and it went pretty well, I think," says Mullins. "It's a little indie film and I would look for it sometime next year because I think they're gonna go to festivals first with it."
