Dancehall-reggae crossover hits tend to be deliciously simple. "Gimme the Light," Sean Paul's unlikely summer smash, is no different -- a sticky ode to toking, with a twinkling beat and an undeniable hook. Whether the average American listener can comprehend what goes on in between is moot, which is good news for Paul, because he's at best a middling MC. But even the most dowdy roots numbers here sparkle on the chorus, which is sometimes just enough.
