Weiland was sent to the Los Angeles Country Men's Central Jail
without opportunity for bail "to show that this will not be
tolerated...[and] to help him make up his mind to stop killing
himself," Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler said
Friday, according to the Associated Press. The singer's
next court date will be Sept. 3. Calls to Weiland's manager and
attorney were not returned at press time. Atlantic Records, the
band's label, did not issue a statement on Weiland's
incarceration.
STP's fourth album, conventionally titled No. 4, is due in
stores Nov. 2.
