Posted Sep 24, 1997 12:00 AM

Last month, JAMTV announced that Australian pop sensation Savage Garden headed up the nominations for the 11th annual Australian Record Industry Association Awards. The show took place the other day and Savage Garden walked away with full arms.| The duo picked up eight ARIAs, including best album, best debut album, best independent release (for their self-titled album) and best-group honor. In addition, Savage Garden won ARIAs for best single, best pop song and best song of the year for "Truly, Madly, Deeply." Finally, the band was honored with the best pop release for "To The Moon and Back," which also happened to be Australia's highest selling single of last year. (Ari Bendersky)
