System is the follow-up to last year's platinum Every Six Seconds, and frontman Josey Scott says that the record is an extension of the band's breakthrough, rather than a repeat of a winning formula. "It's gonna be a really special record," Scott says. "It's evolved from Every Six Seconds, it's the next level, it's a sequel. It has our trademark songwriting -- as far as melody and hooks and lyrics that identify with the human condition -- but from where we are now as opposed to then."
According to Scott, the title track represents the band's relationship with fans, a contingent that has swelled after his successful appearance with Nickelback's Chad Kroeger on "Hero," the hit single from Spider-Man. "It's about us coming back home and back to the fans," he said. "Getting back to their system with more music and more feeling and just being driven by the love that they have for us. Hopefully we can identify with them one more time."
After landing an opening gig for Nickelback last year, Saliva will return the favor this fall, taking Theory of a Deadman, a Kroeger-signed and produced band, out as their opening act on most dates.
