Birdman and Lil Wayne: "Stuntin' Like My Daddy" [Listen]
"I love the way Wayne flows," the singer says of the gravel-throated New Orleans MC, who guests on Thicke's "All Night Long." "He's so unpredictable and original. It's a treat to hear."

Marvin Gaye: "What's Going On" [Listen]
"That song is like an actual stairway to heaven," Thicke says of the soul legend's 1971 social commentary. "You can just hop on that song, and by the end you're at the gates."

Stevie Wonder: "All I Do" [Listen]
Wonder's soulful love songs, like this 1980 hit, are an obvious template for Thicke: "It's a simple song, and it could sound childish, but with Stevie, it's powerful."

N.W.A.: "Straight Outta Compton" [Listen]
"When I was twelve, I listened to that song with headphones, and my mom had no idea," Thicke, 29, says of the 1989 gangsta-rap touchstone. "It was life-changing to hear this world I had no idea about."

The Notorious B.I.G.: "Juicy" [Listen]
Thicke says the single off Biggie's 1994 debut, Ready to Die, is "one of the greatest hip-hop records of all time. It's about the struggle, about making it and appreciating it."
