Album Reviews

In the late nineties, singer-songwriter-producer Robi Draco Rosa wrote some towering hits -- "Livin' La Vida Loca" and "The Cup of Life" -- for his old Menudo bandmate Ricky Martin. Rosa used the proceeds to make the kind of music that he really likes: Mad Love is a bicultural album that reflects both his Puerto Rican heritage and his weakness for arena rock. There are syrupy moments (the flamenco-lite "Como Me Acuerdo"), but the hooks on tracks such as "California" are massive and addictive.
