Turn The Dark Off

The second full-length disc from British DJ and producer Howie B leaves behind the aquatic ambience of last year's Music for Babies; even the mellowest cuts, "Baby Sweetcorn (Come Here)" and the summery "Limbo," are gently anchored by rhythmic loops. "Take Your Partner by the Hand," a pulsating collaboration with Robbie Robertson, is evidence that Howie hasn't forsaken the dance floor on Turn the Dark Off. And, from the brass flourishes of the adrenalin-charged "Angels Go Bald: Too" to the tissue-paper-and-comb harmonica riff on the Henry Mancini-esque "Switch," Howie's sense of humor discreetly permeates the proceedings.
