Remy Ma is best known as the rookie spitfire who out-rapped Fat Joe on Terror Squad's 2004 club shaker "Lean Back." On her solo debut, Remy is preoccupied with outdoing her male competition, at one point claiming to "rap as if [she] had a dick." Remy's rapid-fire flow and spacious synth-bounce are up to the challenge: With help from Swizz Beatz, Cool and Dre, and Scott Storch, Remy flaunts her fierceness and her sex appeal, stepping out of her Benz and into the club's spotlight on the excellently propulsive "Lights, Camera, Action" and inviting Fat Joe to pull up to her bumper on "Tight." Even when Remy spits heartfelt autobiography on the piano-backed remembrance "Still," she plows forward with a badass swagger that should keep her in the game for as long as she pleases.
