Reel Big Fish Sells Out for Real

Posted Sep 27, 1997 12:00 AM

After talking about it for quite a while, the suburban Los Angeles pop ska ensemble Reel Big Fish finally "sold out."| That's right: despite having their major-label debut Turn Off the Radio go gold, Reel Big Fish never signed a formal contract with Mojo Records until last week. To celebrate their official signing, the group brought an oversized game show-style check from Mojo on stage at a New York performance and showed it to the crowd. It was signed by "Darth Vader" and claimed the massive payment was for "selling out." With their hit single "Sell Out" climbing the alternative rock charts, Reel Big Fish remain on tour for most of the fall with Christian pop-punkers MxPx and fellow major-label ska artists Save Ferris.
