After a period spent pursuing solo projects and collaborations, the Clan's members -- including production whiz RZA and MCs Ghostface Killah and Raekwon -- began teasing fans with a return. A high-profile reunion gig that July in San Bernardino, California, later released as the live album Disciples of the 36 Chambers: Chapter 1, and a November show in New Jersey seemed to foreshadow a follow-up to their last studio release, 2001's Iron Flag. Ol' Dirty Bastard was scheduled to perform at the New Jersey show but missed a flight back from a stop on his solo tour. RZA would later admit to Rolling Stone, "If he'd been there that night, there's a fifty-percent chance he'd still be with us."
Before the tour next month, Ghostface Killah will complete his fifth studio album, Fishscale, for release on February 28th. The album features Raekwon on four songs and the entire clan on the track "Wu United." Raekwon himself is prepping Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, a sequel to his 1995 solo album of the same name, for release in late 2006. The Clan did go into the studio last year to begin recording an album, but the work was cut short due to scheduling conflicts.
