Album Reviews
In a brilliant move, Radiohead released In Rainbows via optional-pay download; I paid $5.27, in honor of my mom's birthday. Almost all the songs are already familiar to fans from live versions, but here they become expansive new creations. "Arpeggi" and "Bodysnatchers" ride on white-heat rhythm-guitar overdrive, while "House of Cards" is a fragile lovers-rock ballad closely resembling Dusty Springfield's (and the Byrds') "Going Back." "All I Need" has erotic pleading ("I'm an animal trapped in your hot car"), sad chimes in the "No Surprises" mode, and an ominoso synth-piano rumble. On 2003's Hail to the Thief, Yorke's vocals were all punk rage, but here his voice has an R&B lilt that suits the songs' romantic directness.
The end of "Videotape" is the only time the band dips back into dated glitch-blip electronics. Otherwise, the music is full of vividly collaborative sonic touches, from the Gary Numan synth-nightmare drones of "All I Need" and "House of Cards" to drummer Phil Selway's surprisingly deft way with his brushes and woodblocks. No wasted moments, no weak tracks: just primo Radiohead. Hell, I'm going back and tipping them another quarter just for the finger-cymbal solo on "Reckoner."

I haven't read a review yet that can sum up what In Rainbows is all about. Some critics become lost trying to sound hip, some come off awfully pretentious and some can't help attributing the band's accolades to the write-up.
I don't think I can offer up a better salvo, so I'll just say I am quite happy with the album. It's great that a band this talented and non-conformist can piece together some old and new material and create a great chill-out record.

Radiohead has done that rare, nearly impossible thing: They've become the world's favorite band without compromising the integrity that springboarded them initially. They continuously reinvent their own sound, each time putting more ground between them and the rest of the world (except for a few bands like Tool, The Mars Volta, etc) who stands idly by, with jaws touching the ground.
This album is a killer, from start to finish. "15 step" opens up like a can of confetti with how fun it sounds. But leave it to Radiohead to bring you back to earth and leave you grounded with a song like "Nude" which is like Thom Yorke unplugged, it's painfully beautiful. The rest of the album bends and ebbs elegantly, it's like dreaming through a rainy day. In all, In Rainbows is the sum of Radiohead's strongest parts. While it lacks the electronica virtuoso mentality of Kid A, it's like OK Computer in its rawest, most vulnerable form. In my opinion, this is the album of 2008. Nothing comes close in terms of musicianship, songwriting and just sheer ability to effortlessly tug away at your heart strings. We still have a couple years until the next offering from Tool, but until that Radiohead gives us plenty to digest.

In Rainbows is the album of the decade. Kid A is a sonic masterpiece in its own way but In Rainbows takes everything they've ever done and move it forward. Im so excited to hear they are going back into the studio after they are done with this current tour..already have studio time set up with Nigel Godrich!!! RADIOHEAD is the best live band ever too! Their dallas show was soooo amazing. i felt like i was in a different world.

I hate saying this after countless listens to Kid A and Ok Computer, but this has to be the greatest album Radiohead has put together. Every song is brilliant, starting with the very fun "15 Steps" and ending with the "Pyramid Song" -esque "Videotape." The real standouts though are "All I Need," "Reckoner" and "Wierd Fishes/Arpeggi." The first two are Lo-Fi masterpieces, where Thom's falsetto and Phil Selway's brilliant percussion work shine through. Wierd Fishes is my favorite on the album, a hauntingly beautiful piece of guitar mastery and lyrical genius. One of Radiohead's best.

I'll make it short-this is THE Radiohead album.Every song is perfectly in synch and the album flows brilliantly. The lyrics are pure Radiohead. The whole thing is just euphoric in a dark and romantic way.I have to say,Radiohead has succeeded in making their classic album, even comparable and as great as Transformer,Hunky Dory and maybe even Revolver.

This album was amazing to me. It had an elements of good music, which include good-beat(15 Step) and a clear message (Nude). The song that stuck out those to me was All I Need, it, to me, was calming and exciting and it had a clear beat and I understood the message quit well. Nude did the same thing as well, it bascically said that he was not for those "dirty thoughts". Great marketing played a role too. Good job Radiohead, can't wait for the next album!
