There hasn't been an album of this kind since Sandy Nelson and Hal Blayne recorded together in the 1950s and '60s, but seeing as he was a big fan of their work, Brian Reitzell of Redd Kross came up with the idea to make an album now. "I had always wanted to hear a record like that for the '90s," Reitzell said. "While I was touring with Red Kross (in 1994), all the other drummers I talked to really liked the idea and wanted to help out," he said.
As Hollywood puts it, Flyin' Traps, ultimately, is not
a drum album; it's a music album that just happens to feature many
of modern rock's most creative and distinctive drummers exploring
the frontiers of rhythmic melody. (AB)
