Farrell, Jewel Set For MOM Benefit

(NEW YORK) - Perry Farrell, Jewel, Ben Harper, Pennywise and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones are among the artists who will appear on the environmental benefit MOM II: A Music Special.|

The concert, intended to further the cause of the San Clemente, Calif.-based Surfrider Foundation, a grass-roots organization dedicated to protecting oceans and beaches, will air on MTV March 9 at 8:30 p.m. EST/PST, March 16 at 12:30 p.m. EST/PST, and several times on April 22.

Pamela Anderson will host the program, which will feature musicians from the second MOM compilation as well as guests Rob Zombie and boxer George Foreman.

The first album for MOM -- it stands for Music for Our Mother Ocean -- was released on Surfdog/Interscope Records in July 1996; it included songs by Pearl Jam, the Beastie Boys, Jewel, No Doubt and Porno For Pyros, among others.

MOM II, released last August, featured Pennywise covering the Beach Boys' "I Get Around"; the Mighty Mighty Bosstones teaming with the Pietasters on the latter group's "Ocean"; Porno For Pyros covering "Tonight" from West Side Story; and the Beach Boyscontributing a live version of "Summer In Paradise."

MOM II has raised more than $160,000 for the Surfrider Foundation since its street date.
