Fallen angels of '80s hair rock, Poison, are gearing up for a comeback with the more loyal, less intoxicated C.C. Deville back on guitar after more than five years away from the band.

The glam rockers have regrouped in Southern California to rehearse and write material for an upcoming album, Riki Valentine, a spokesman for the band, told JAMTV on Monday. Although there's no release date in sight, Poison is already anxiously scheming with arena rockers like Def Leppard, Whitesnake and Great White for an all-star, all-faux leather package tour, he said.

Despite rabid fan anticipation and hordes of down time, drummer Rikki Rockett, bassist Bobby Dall and Deville will not join forces with their heartbreaking frontman Bret Michaels until after the summer, Valentine said.

Michaels, who founded a film company with actor Charlie Sheen several years ago, is plugging away on soundtracks to at least two independent films. On July 28, the 36-year-old entrepreneur will release a 14-song soundtrack to the film A Letter From Death Row on his start-up label, Poorboy Records. Michaels wrote, produced, directed and starred in the film, which revolves around convicted killer Michael Raine during the months before his execution in Tennessee. The movie is due out in late July -- one full year after its original estimated time of arrival.

Flexing his many facets, Michaels is also composing the score and soundtrack to No Code of Conduct, which stars Charlie and Martin Sheen. The blond bombshell also wrote, directed and produced that film, which is in post-production now, Valentine said.

Blood-hungry fans can lick their chops over a home video of Michaels playing his first solo gig at Billboard Live! in Los Angeles on August 14, 1997. For the more immediate fix, Michaels also makes a cameo appearance in the surf adventure film In God's Hands, which is reportedly playing at a theater near you.

Poison dominated MTV in the late '80s with such glam rock favorites as "I Want Action," "Talk Dirty To Me," "Nothin' But A Good Time" and "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" from the albums Look What the Cat Dragged In and Open Up and Say...Ahh! The band was recently dropped from Capitol Records, which released five of their seven previous albums. (Anni Layne)
