(NEW YORK) - Comprising 11 musicians and singers, Poi Dog Pondering may have been short of stage space but never of ideas to try. On Liquid White Light, to be released May 6 by Chicago-based Plate-tec-tonic Records, the band skitters from acoustic to electric, ballads to stomping funk, airy rhythms to tight, locked grooves. The 2-CD set, which was recorded live last year, collects 23 tracks from the group's nine-year career and features one new song, "Searching For The Fertile Fields." In support of the set, Poi Dog Pondering will go on a short U.S. tour starting June 3 in Chicago and wrapping June 13 in Kansas City, Mo.
