Big Crowd Takes In Poi Show

Big Crowd Takes In Poi Show

Last week, JAMTV reported that Poi Dog Pondering's Aug. 23 show at Chicago's Ravinia Festival might break the bank. A huge crowd came out to take part in the Windy City group's eclectic show that included staple tunes "Complicated," "Jack Ass Ginger" and "Diamonds and Buttermilk," as well as covers by Primal Scream ("Come Together") and Marvin Gaye ("Let's Get It On"), but it wasn't the biggest in the venues history, according to Ravinia Spokesman Jack Zimmerman. "This was the biggest show this season," Zimmerman said. "Poi Dog's show does rival some of the biggest shows we've had in the past, but didn't come close to the biggest, which was a long time ago."

Zimmerman wouldn't release exact attendance figures or even say what performer attracted the largest crowd ("that's just Ravinia's policy," he said). Although Poi Dog didn't set any records, the pavilion and lawn were both packed, and according to many fans who made the trip to Highland Park to see the show, it was one of the best night's they'd had this summer.
