P.O.D. Get Even Heavier

After laying down bass and drums for a month in San Francisco, P.O.D. have returned to their hometown of San Diego to finish the recording of their follow-up to 2003's Payable on Death.

"It's gonna be a more mature, heavy P.O.D.," says bassist Traa. "We're taking our time and doing it right."

Produced by Greg Fidelman (Audioslave, Marilyn Manson), the as-yet-untitled album marks the hard rockers' second with guitarist Jason Truby. However, unlike Payable on Death -- recorded after founding guitarist Marcos' sudden departure -- Traa, singer Sonny and drummer Wuv have had time to get to know Truby. "We've been together for a couple of years now," Traa says, "and we've figured out how to hone what we have."

While the new album isn't expected to drop until later this year, fans can sample the material on the band's Web site -- which features video clips of the studio sessions -- and possibly catch P.O.D. live. "We're hoping to do some touring in the summer," Traa says. "We want to give back to the warriors, our fans."
