On 2001's "Satellite," these Christian groove-metalers delivered razor-sharp guitars for listeners who might otherwise have been turned off by frontman Sonny Sandoval's proselytizing rhymes. On Payable on Death, that tension has slackened. Bloated riffs churn over bludgeoning beats while Sandoval experiments with more soulful melodies ("Will You") and reggae-lite toasting ("Change the World"). Ultimately, the inspirational message ("You can change the world") gets lost in uninspired rhymes ("Positive come around/Impact the sounds").

I think this album is a musical masterpiece... the first time i listened to it, i was a little bit shocked because it sounded so different from their older albums. But after a few listenings i started to love this album. its very nice to relax. the melodies are very beautiful. some of my favourite tracks on this album for me are: Asthma, Wildfire, Change the World, and Execute the Sounds. But i have to say i actually love all the songs on this album.
Sure, it's much less hard as the last one. but i think its unique in its own way.

This album is the epidemy of P.O.D. and their work. I believe that this album is without a doubt their best musical accomplishment to date. It begins with one of the best live songs that P.O.D. performs "Wildfire" that has a very different riff than we are accostumed to hearing from P.O.D. and a very melodic chorus procaliming "The righteous will burn again"; the lyrics being very reflective of their faith and purpose. Other songs that stand out are "Change The World" which was the second single off the album. The song is in the lyrical style of "Alive" and "Youth of the Nation". "Revolution" is based on a line from a shirt Sonny found in his closet proclaiming "Is this what it takes to make a solution, your revolution". Its a song that begins with a pretty cool bass riff and simply one of the most outstanding songs P.O.D. has written. The song continues with "Asthma" easily being one of the most hard and soft songs P.O.D. has pulled out. The album closes with "Eternal". An instrumental song performed by Jason Truby with several different guitar sounds and also one of the most incredibly melodic songs from P.O.D. and goes to show the pure talent that is Jason Truby. Overall, the album is a complete success and is a testament to how powerful P.O.D.'s music truly is and a powerful 1st album sort of speak with the addition of Jason Truby.
