The new round of dates start September 4th in Bend, Oregon, and, though a full itinerary hasn't yet been set, stops are planned in Seattle, Austin, Atlanta, Chicago and Toronto.
In between the North American dates will be a seven-week jaunt through Europe, a stop at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan in early August and a pair of shows at the V2004 Festival in the U.K. on August 21st and 22nd.
Next Tuesday's Minneapolis show will mark the first time the Pixies -- singer/guitarist Frank Black, guitarist Joey Santiago, bassist Kim Deal and drummer David Lovering -- have shared a stage since 1992. Although the Pixies enjoyed little commercial success during their six-year run, their influence -- most notably on Nirvana -- was sizeable. Tickets for all shows on the first round of reunion dates are sold out.
A new Pixies compilation, Wave of Mutilation, and a self-titled DVD are planned for later this year. Mutilation includes twenty-three tracks including singles, B sides and a cover of Neil Young's "Winterlong." The two-and-a-half hour Pixies features a complete set from London in 1988, promotional videos, behind-the-scenes footage and "Gouge," a mini-documentary with commentary from David Bowie, Bono, Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood and PJ Harvey.
