The Velvet Underground's "mainstream" 1970 album Loaded is an interesting choice for a jam band to cover- especially at the hightened Audience expectation for a Halloween show. Jam Bands and Art Punks have always been on the opposite sides of the spectrum- but if any TVU album needed to be covered, you'd have to go with the one Lou Reed loaded with would-be radio jingles.
A modest job is done giving the standard New York band the touch of Phish: extending time limits on the jaunting "Rock and Roll" a favorite at Phish shows even before the Halloween performance.
The first disc features a set of originals that features the near-11 minute suite "Sneakin' Sally Thru The Alley". This is a must have track if one were to condense the 20 plus disc set of Phish's Live discs to a single highlights release.
