Pennywise Invites Fans To Draw

Even in the egalitarian world of punk rock, not everyone can just get up onstage to jam with his or her favorite band. |

The ever-enterprising beach bunnies in Pennywise, however, have found a way to let fans -- or at least one particularly talented one -- pitch in on their forthcoming sixth album.

Don't bother dusting off those clarinets and ocarinas, though: The band is looking for a hand in designing the artwork for the as-yet-untitled disc, and has put together a contest in order to find a layman with the right stuff to formulate that design.

Sure, Jim Lindberg & Co. will be saving a few bucks by shunning the skateboard-fashioning types who normally craft their covers, but they will pony up a $1,000 first prize and fly the contest winner out to Los Angeles to observe the disc being put into production. All the details can be found on Epitaph's website -- including that little bit about selling the label your firstborn to help stock the punk revival of 2018. (David Sprague)
